As a member of the Seacoast Clean Power Coalition, we work to bring
the area's fossil-fuel plants up to current clean air standards.
Operating under a loophole, some of these plants continue to spew
tons of harmful pollutants into our air each year.
We assist the Tooth Fairy Project, a nationwide cancer study conducted
by the Radiation and Public Health Project to measure how much exposure
children living near nuclear industries have to radioactive strontium
(Sr90). The project is interested in analyzing baby teeth from children
living near Seabrook Station and the nuclear submarine repair and
dismantling operations at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
We monitor the effects of the lead-contaminated soil discharge at
the Shipyard, which has caused lobsters in the vicinity to have
significantly higher than normal lead level.
